Matcha Latte Recipe

History:

Matcha is a traditional Japanese green tea powder that has been used for centuries in Japanese tea ceremonies. It was first introduced to Japan by Zen Buddhist monks in the 12th century and was initially consumed primarily by Buddhist monks and samurai warriors due to its association with meditation and focus. Over time, the popularity of matcha spread beyond religious circles, and it became a popular beverage in Japan and around the world. Today, matcha is used in various culinary creations, and one popular and delicious way to enjoy it is by making a Matcha Latte.

Ingredients:

IngredientsQuantity
Matcha green tea powder1 teaspoon
Hot water2 tablespoons
Milk or plant-based milk1 cup
Sweetener (optional)To taste

Instructions:

Boil water and let it cool for a minute or two to reach the ideal temperature for matcha (about 175°F or 80°C).

Sift the matcha powder into a bowl to remove any lumps and ensure a smooth texture.

Add the hot water to the bowl with the matcha powder.

Using a bamboo whisk or a small whisk, vigorously whisk the matcha and water together in a "W" motion until the mixture becomes frothy and well combined.

In a separate saucepan, heat the milk (or plant-based milk) until it's hot but not boiling. You can also use a milk frother to froth the milk.

Pour the frothy matcha mixture into a serving cup.

Slowly pour the hot milk into the cup with the matcha while gently stirring to create latte art if desired.

If you prefer a sweeter matcha latte, add sweetener of your choice to taste and stir well.

Your Matcha Latte is ready to enjoy! Sip it slowly and savor the unique flavor and calming properties of matcha.

Note: Matcha lattes have become increasingly popular in recent years due to the rise of interest in traditional Japanese culture and the numerous health benefits associated with matcha. Enjoy this delightful and nutritious beverage as a soothing morning pick-me-up or a comforting treat throughout the day.
